Clean Up Australia Day

(Photo Courtesy of the Gold Coast City Council)

Unfortunately Carrara SES was unable to complete Clean Up Australia day as we were called out to rescue a missing bushwalker. When Carrara SES  makes a commitment to something we stick to it, So we are going to complete our Clean up day in the near future as part of a  team building activity. It will also give us the chance to train with our flood boats as we are cleaning up the Coomera river.

Stay tuned to find out more!

The Carrara State Emergency Service is situated on the sunny Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia.

What is the Queensland State Emergency Service (SES)?

The State Emergency Service is a Volunteer organisation supported by the State and Local Governments. SES Volunteers are trained to help their community to prepare for, cope with and recover from disasters.

The SES also supports Police, Ambulance and Fire Officers at emergency incidents when additional resources are needed. The SES is supported by Counter Disaster & Rescue Services (CDRS), a division of the Queensland Department of Emergency Services.

Who can join the SES?

There is a role for most people in your local SES Unit - young, old, male, female, superfit, people of average health, unemployed people, trades-people and professionals. SES Units will recruit people to fill specific needs depending on the roles allocated to the Unit within the local area.

You must be at least 16 years old to join the SES, however, Local SES Cadet Units for people who have commenced high school have been established in a number of communities.

Everyone in the SES has the opportunity to learn new skills and make their own unique contribution to their community.
